A range hood is an essential component to your kitchen — it ventilates irritants, vapors, and contaminants, so you and your family can cook with clean, healthy air. An island range hood is mounted and vented through the ceiling, or hung from peninsula wall cabinets over your island cooktop or range. Let’s go over the brands, sizes, and features you’ll find in our selection.
When shopping for an island ceiling mount range hood, brand is a big consideration. Each brand has its own unique look and features, so choosing the right one is a challenge. We’ve compiled a list to help narrow down your search:

Shopping island hoods by size is very important. Because an island mount range hood doesn’t have cabinets or walls to direct the fumes, your range hood must be wider than your cooking surface. So, if you have a 30 in range or cooktop, you need a 36 inch island range hood or larger. And if you have a 36 or 40 in cooktop, rangetop, or range, shop for a 48 inch island range hood. As for ceiling height, some island range hoods have telescoping chimneys to help fit higher ceilings. So, measure at least three times before you buy an island range hood. Check out our guide on common kitchen layouts to see how your range hood will fit in your kitchen.
Once you’ve decided on the brand and size, choosing the features and color is the next step. For features, decide on a canopy style you love, whether clear glass, curved metal, or a traditional style. And check out features like auto shut off timers, charcoal filters, LED lights, and heat sensors.
For finish, decide on the color that matches your dream kitchen design:
